Terms and Conditions of Subscription to the Nigerian Lawyers Directory


1.   The stipulated subscription rate for a Law Firm (for purposes of this agreement, defined as a business entity consisting of partners, staff or owners) covers all the Lawyers in the Firm.

2.  The stipulated subscription rate for an individual Lawyer (for purposes of this agreement, defined as legal practitioner, employee in any pubic or private organisation, or a partner or staff in a Law Firm who desires to have an independent listing in the Directory) is for the particular individual only.

3.  This agreement between Nigerian Law Resources (“the Publisher”) and the Subscriber shall take effect from the date on which the appropriate Subscription Form together with the full payment, or evidence of full payment made earlier, is successfully transmitted to and received by the Publisher; and the period of yearly subscription shall commence on the date the Publisher places the entry in the online Nigerian Lawyers Directory and notifies the Subscriber accordingly through e-mail, and shall end on the eve of its next anniversary (e.g. 15 May 2008 to 14 May 2009).

4.  The subscription is renewable upon payment by the Subscriber of further subscription at the rate specified for the new period, in the event of any change, and the Publisher shall give reasonable notice of such change to the Subscriber before the expiration of the current subscription.

5.  The usual means of communication between the Publisher and the Subscriber shall be through e-mail, and both parties are under obligation to maintain valid and functional e-mail facilities for this purpose.

6.   The Publisher undertakes to publish the entry submitted in the appropriate Subscription Form in the online Nigerian Lawyers Directory upon fulfilment of the stipulated conditions by the Subscriber (i.e. full payment of the subscription confirmed by the Publisher and successful submission of the appropriate Subscription Form).

7.  The Publisher shall not be held liable whatsoever for any disruption of the subscription service due to technical problems associated with the information and telecommunications industry or arising from the services supplied by third parties upon which the functioning of the Nigerian Law Resources website and its components depends, including but not limited to web hosting, e-mail transmission, and generation of anticipated search results by Internet search engines.

8.   The Subscriber declares that the information supplied by the Subscriber for purposes of this subscription is true and correct and that the Subscriber is a bona fide Law Firm or Legal Practitioner duly licensed or eligible to practise law in the country or jurisdiction where the Subscriber carries on business, and consents to the publication by the Publisher of the Subscriber’s photograph (if included) and personal information contained in the Subscription Form, and will indemnify the Publisher fully for any loss suffered or damages incurred by the Publisher as a result of any information supplied by the Subscriber.

9.  In supplying information for purposes of this subscription, the Subscriber shall ensure compliance with rule 39 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007 which governs information about Lawyers and their legal practice publishable in a Lawyers Directory such as the Nigerian Lawyers Directory.  Consequently, the Publisher reserves the right to exclude any information or data supplied by the Subscriber that may not be publishable in this Directory in view of the said rule 39.

10.  In the unlikely event of any unresolved dispute between both parties, this agreement shall be governed by the appropriate laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
